EXPLORING POLITICAL MEMES & MASHUPS
This video comes from the daily show where John Oliver does an interview with some politicians. In the video it says that: The Australian Gun Buy Back reduced firearms suicide by nearly 80%. As the interview goes on they begin speaking about being politically dead. This statement was made: Taking on the NRA can be political suicide. So why Australia may have been able to reduce suicide and homicide rates by controlling gun laws, what else was lost? Gun control and politics is not just a problem that the United States faces.
This video is of a girl making a statement in front of group of people. She goes on to talk about her experience with guns and the various scholarships that would be offered to her to attend college. Stricter gun control laws would take that away from her. I agree with her statement that says: “Guns are not the problem, people are.” Also, I am a believer that people have a right to protect themselves.
Regulating weapons. Know what your talking about.
A Texas deputy was shot 15 times. The interview here is focused around the subject of the Black Lives Matter Movement. The news woman interviewing the officer asks if it is fair to link the murder to the Black Lives Matter Movement? To which the officer says it is very fair with the anti-cop rhetoric that is sweeping America. We need to ask ourselves this question: is it a “Pro- Black Lives Matter or Anti-Cop Movement”?
Police brutality and racial profiling: This video takes an inside look into the Black Lives Matter movement. The narrator states: that it is about the individual voice and the experiences behind them. One woman says during the video that they “are not anti-police, they are anti brutality.”
As I watched these videos I took note of some of the comments that where made. Below you will see some of what people had to say about these topics:
